On this episode of My Own Way, it’s all about Roger. He was the guest in the Katy Kafe this month, and all of the highlights are covered right here! Tune in for some extra special scoops about the “imminent” new single, the album...and even something that is on Rhonda’s Bucket List!
This month, we invited Wild Boys: The Duran Duran experience guitarist Bart Van Bemmel to join us for a chat on all things Duran Duran. Covering his humble fan beginnings, to guitarists, and why it’s so tough to find players willing to go “all in” when it comes to Duran Duran tribute bands, we think you’ll find this Vodka Friday a great listen!
This week, we continue on with our discussion about our perceptions of Duran Duran and how they’ve changed over the years, whether as children, adults, bloggers, or even currently. The conversation twisted and turned wildly, but we hope we’ve given you something to think about, and maybe you’ll even join in on the conversation. We’d love to hear from you!
Over the years I’ve written for Daily Duranie and researched fandom, there are two things I’ve seen: competition between fans to be “the Best” and a constant policing of the community to establish and maintain “the Real Fans”. What in the heck is a real fan, anyway? If you’re like me, you’re frustrated that at this point in our lives, we’re still playing these games. Let’s talk about it on today’s episode!
Do you recall your perception of Duran Duran back in the 80s? What about now? What has changed? Well, Amanda and Rhonda discuss this very thing on this glorious Vodka Friday. The subject is neither light nor shallow for either of them, so be prepared to hear Amanda and Rhonda at their best and most vulnerable. We hope you enjoy it!
On today’s episode of My Own Way, we’re going to talk a little bit about gratitude, and what Rhonda has learned as a result of being under lock and key for over a year. She’s a work in progress, but maybe...just maybe...she’s finally learned that it doesn’t all have to be so serious!!
On today’s Vodka Friday, we attempt to tackle a tough question. “Does it really matter if an album/song/etc is ‘the best’ if that album/song/etc makes you FEEL something?” Along the way, we chat about how we’ve reviewed albums in the past, how our DD fan community likes to “one up” each other, and the conversation even went down the Dom Brown rabbit hole. Grab a cocktail, watch it, and join in the discussion!
Okay. I think a lot of us have talked set lists before. Seems like everyone has an opinion of what should or should not be played. Well, I have a couple of ideas...
- What about First Impression?
- What if the band could ONLY tour with songs from Big Thing forward?
Let’s dive in and see where the discussion takes us!
On this episode, Amanda and Rhonda say cheers to Friday as they drink their way through talk of Nick’s newest musical project, promoting an album during a pandemic, and maybe even a little bit of sexism, thanks to a certain comment from Nick. Listen in, and see what you think!
Did you know that in the state of California, outdoor concerts with a capacity of 20% of normal will be allowed beginning April 1st? This is the same day that Disneyland and other theme parks will be allowed to open, right along with sporting events. On this episode of My Own Way, we’re going to dissect the issue of concerts and what that might mean for the average fan and their bank accounts in the coming months and years ahead!
